The History of Makeup (Infographic)

The Evolution of Makeup via Daily Infographic

Do you know your makeup history? I found this infographic while browsing through my Google Reader subscriptions and thought it would be something fun to share. It's kind of fun to see how makeup and beauty has evolved through the years. :)

Michelle, Where Have You Been??? (Update)

Ah! I know, I know! Excuses, excuses Michelle. Where have you been? We know you've been busy, but dang! Don't leave us hanging! :P

So I know it's been a few weeks since I've last posted. The last time I posted, I'm sure I mentioned that I was working on a show at my old high school. So that was eating up A TON of my time. It also got me sick! Yes, I got sick from the lack of sleep and stress. I had to give myself time to recoup. After opening weekend, I got sick the day we did a daytime kids' show and when I got home from that I knocked out and was feeling feverish and chills. Luckily we didn't have a show until Thursday (that day was a Tuesday) so I was able to rest up for a full day which kind of helped. But then I was back at it for 4 more shows straight. O.o So my body didn't get to rest all that much until this past week. I told myself (and friends) that I'd take the week off and go into hibernation.

Well, my week is up and now it's back into the real world. And a good thing because this past weekend I was a total hermit and was starting to think I'd get into a bad habit of staying inside and being anti-social for too long. :P

As for my online life, I've been spending A LOT of time on Pinterest & Tumblr. It's been so easy to just 'click! 'click!' and pin/post things. :P

But now I've resolved to get back into my blog. I feel like I've had a hard time pinning down exactly what the concept is for my blog. I'm definitely into beauty, but I haven't been as consistent with it and haven't had as much confidence in myself with it to really commit. But I think I'm going to do my best with it. For the time being, I feel like this is going to be a bit of a personal blog that will consist of a little bit of everything in my life until I can really figure out what my POV and hopes for this is.

Let's see... I think that's it for now. If you have any suggestions of posts you'd like to see on my blog, feel free to comment below! Thanks for being so patient with me and willing to stick it out with me while I figure this all out. :)

Reading Nooks

So, as I mentioned in my previous post I have been OBSESSED with Pinterest. My neighbor got me into it when she decided to use it to plan my birthday party this past year. After that, I became hooked.

If you don't know what Pinterest is, it's a social media site where you can "pin" photos to "boards" and create different boards with various themes. For example, if you're planning a black & white penguin themed party (yes, that was the theme of my birthday party this year ;P) then you can create a board and pin photos or links with ideas that pertain to that board. So the board that we made for my birthday party had a lot of pictures of penguins, recipes for appetizers, ideas for photo backdrops, etc.

One of the boards that I have on my Pinterest is titled "Home Decor." I found that I have been pinning a lot of photos of reading nook areas. I LOVE to read and wish I had/made more time to read for leisure. I also find that I love having a designated area where I can read without any sort of distractions. In one of the apartments I used to live in before I moved back home with my parents, I had a loft. I LOVED it because I kept it very simple with a nice chair and ottoman, a reading lamp, a small desk, and a bookshelf. It was nice and secluded enough that I could have "me time" or read without too many distractions and yet still be present in the apartment (if that makes any sense).

Here are a few reading nooks that I found and pinned to my "Home Decor" board.

FOTD #5 - A Bit of Purple

Howdy! Sorry for a bit of lack in posts. The show that I've been volunteering with (Once on This Island) at my high school is opening in less than a week so I've been UUUUUUUBER busy! >.< These past few days have been tech and dress rehearsals. Opening night is this Friday (March 9) and so this upcoming week is all dress rehearsals. My job doing the social media work is a bit on the back burner (still promoting though!) and now I'm in makeup artist mode. I'm doing the makeup on 4 of the principal females and am LOVING the looks that are coming out for the two goddesses. :) But anyhoo... Enough about the show. You're reading this for the look that you see above. ;) I actually got inspired by this photo that I saw on Pinterest. (Btw, I've been UBER obsessed with Pinterest lately. It's been added to my "sites that I visit daily" routine. :P) Fun Fact: The look that I found on Pinterest I'm actually using as inspiration for one of the goddesses that I'm doing the makeup for in the show. Except for the look that I did on myself I went with the color purple as opposed to the color pink in the original photo. Again, I used the photo as inspiration so it isn't an EXACT rendition. Hope you like it! :)
